STAR Ghana Foundation, as part of its non-grant strategy, has built a strong network of transformational leaders in the Ghanaian civil society space with technical support from NKUM Associates.

Speaking at a brief graduation ceremony held on Wednesday 25th September 2019 in Ho as part of the third and final module of the programme, Rev John Nkum, lead facilitator and Executive Director of NKUM Associates charged the beneficiaries to make meaning of the certificates they have earned in their work. He asserted:
“As we offer you these certificates and you get out of this programme, let the certificates be evidence that you are empowered differently, let them be a sign that: you can show up anywhere, anytime and in any system to present holism, diversity, inclusion, acceptance and multiple realities, embracing complexities and minimaxing complications… God be with you all.”

Eunice Agbenyadzi – Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Capacity Building Manager of STAR Ghana, speaking on behalf of the Programme Director and Acting Executive Director of STAR Ghana Foundation (Ibrahim-Tanko Amidu), explained the nature of the programme and the motivation behind STAR Ghana Foundation’s support to same:
“There have been three different modules in this leadership programme and in between modules, coaching. The motivation is to support the growth of a critical mass of contemporary leaders who will lead the civil society space into the next phase of development. For over one year, we have engaged in this process.” She said.
Eunice expressed the gratitude of the Foundation to the Faculty for a wonderful work done and shared the Foundation’s expectation of the impact of the programme among the beneficiaries of the programme.
“It is the expectation of STAR Ghana Foundation that the knowledge and skills you have acquired will help you transform leadership practice in your organization and in the sector so that we have leaders who are able to: manage complexities, embrace diversities, leaders who function based on relationships, leaders who embrace holism. That by practicing all of these, you are bringing all of your followers along in pursuing the vision for the sector. We are hopeful that we will continue to see more of this transformation in the work that the sector does.”
Twenty-four (24) participants – CSO leaders, emanating from 19 grant partners of STAR Ghana participated in the programme. Certificates of completion were awarded to participants.
