How Naabans Foundation is inspiring change through resource mobilisation, women’s empowerment, and community development.
Naabans Foundation began its journey under the Catalyst Fund and has since grown into its second phase — one of the youngest organizations within the CSSF portfolio.
Their work is rooted in the community. The team spends time with local groups, explaining what resource mobilization means and how everyone can play a part. They’ve reached out to stakeholders including the Departments of Health and Education, as well as community elders, who have all promised to support with cash or in-kind contributions when needed.
When Naabans produced and shared a few short videos on their work, they caught the attention of Solidaridad, which has now pledged to assist women in palm oil processing. The Foundation has also worked with the media — both print and television — to tell their story. Angel TV has even offered to produce a documentary in the town, while UTV is helping connect Naabans with MTN for potential support.

One of their most engaging initiatives it seeks to undertake is a Village Food Competition, to promote indigenous foods and involve about six local communities. In addition, the Foundation hired a consultant to train women processors on HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) — teaching them how to improve safety and hygiene in palm oil production.
They’re also raising funds to set up a library for schoolchildren in Anumapapam in the Eastern Region and working with YACO International to provide clean water through boreholes in several districts, including Ayensuano, Suhum (Eastern region), and Komenda, Edna, Eguaafo Abirem (kEEA) in the Central region.
To support local livelihoods, Naabans has trained young people to grow pepper — a household essential that can also be dried and sold during the lean season. The team credits the WACSI Communications training for giving them the confidence to improve their visibility and tell their story more boldly.

Although they have developed a fundraising strategy, they are yet to organize staff training on it.
Overall, Naabans Foundation is driven by a simple vision — to build communities where everyone has access to education, healthcare, and the means to live sustainably. Through partnerships, training, and advocacy, they continue to prove that small initiatives can spark big change.
