About the role
The Fundraising Advisor is responsible for coordinating and driving the implementation of the Foundation’s fundraising action plan and Ethical Fundraising and Investment Policy. S/he will play the lead role in laying the foundation and leverage relationships for a diversified funding base and a sustainable income stream for the STAR Ghana Foundation. This will include developing, packaging and marketing a range of high-quality STAR Ghana Foundation products and coordinating all fundraising approaches and submissions to prospective donors and partners.
The role will work with the STAR Ghana Foundation management, its Governing Council and the STAR-Ghana programme Consortium to refine and advance the Foundation’s fundraising targets. S/he will undertake detailed scoping on priority foundations, grant-makers, official donors, business funders and individual givers and provide active scanning, analysis and follow-up on new funding and resourcing opportunities for the Foundation.
The role in collaboration with the Foundation’s Fundraising Committee will coordinate and support the Foundation’s networking and visibility with African and international peer networks related to philanthropy, foundations and grant-making. S/he will coordinate with the Foundation’s communications team to align fundraising efforts with the branding and positioning strategy, review and improve the fundraising functionality of the Foundation’s website and social media platforms.
About you
The successful applicant will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field; combined with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. You should have substantial experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation, public relations, marketing and/or business development at a managerial level. You need to have proven high standards of integrity and accountability, with a demonstrated commitment to the values and goals of the Foundation. You are experienced with donor approval, reporting and accountability requirements and managing donor and fundraising data, information and records in an efficient, accountable way.
You need to have strong experience and skills in programme design, proposal development, budgeting, project reporting, and donor/client management and the ability to manage and inspire patrons, champions, volunteers, partners and Governing Council members in their contributions to fundraising efforts.
You have excellent written, verbal and presentational skills to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences. You have demonstrable public speaking, partnership-building, relationship management, advocacy, strategic thinking and analytical skills. Relevant experience in the civil society and development sectors. Specialist experience in resource mobilisation from business and CSR funders, aid donors, private foundations and/or individual givers.
