Despite the passage of the Right to Information Law in Ghana, administrative and bureaucratic bottlenecks coupled with the imposition of fees by public institutions and a seeming lack of awareness among the citizenry of the law and their rights to demand for information are among a host of challenges impeding access to public information and the effective implementation of the law.

Star Ghana Foundation (SGF) met Parliament’s Select Committee on Health to discuss findings from research it undertook on Rapid assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on health delivery, COVID-19 commodities allocations, and supply as well as Health financing and implications for policy in the health sector. The one-day strategic meeting sought to, among other objectives, provide evidence to strengthen the capacity of the committee to hold ministries, departments, and agencies to account for ensuring inclusive delivery of health services. Access to timely, relevant, and accessible information is critical to strengthening Parliament’s oversight of public goods and services delivery.
