STAR-Ghana Foundation is a Ghanaian-owned and led national centre for active citizenship, civil society and philanthropy. The Foundation builds on phases 1 & 2 of the STAR-Ghana programmes, a 10year multi-donor funding mechanism. Phase 2 of the STAR-Ghana programme is a £22 million multi-donor funding arrangement consisting of funds from UKAid, the EU and DANIDA. It is managed by a consortium led by Christian Aid. The programme’s ultimate objective is to contribute to a well-informed and active civil society, able to contribute to transformational change around key challenges of poverty, inequality and inclusion for all citizens by increasing the effectiveness of citizen influencing change that advances democracy, accountability and social inclusion through Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

Penplusbytes with support from STAR-Ghana Foundation has launched an information hub as part of its COVID-19 Response Projects. The project dubbed “Info-for-all” is premised on the fact that information empowers and disinformation disempowers which endangers lives and leads to confusion and discord. The Speaker of Parliament Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye on Thursday 28th May 2020 officially launched the 2020-2024 Corporate Strategic Plan of the Parliament of Ghana at the Speaker’s Lounge, Parliament House. The strategic document on the theme “Corporate Strategic Planning as a tool for unlocking the capacity of legislatures” was developed with support by STAR Ghana Foundation. Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, member of the Governing Council, and Chair of the Grants sub-committee of the STAR Ghana Foundation has been sworn into office as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana by the President of the Republic: H.E., Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the office of the President. Justice Professor Mensa-Bonsu becomes the 5th female member of the highest court of Ghana.
